Walnut Farm Table

This is a 3 board table made for a customer that has book matched outer boards. You can see the process of lining the boards up so the grain and figuring will be symmetrical.

Old Barn Reclaimed Heart Pine Table

 This project started with old barn wood from Montgomery, AL



 Next we laid them out in the order that was most pleasing to the customer...


 Once the glue had dried, we hand sanded the top to keep the old mill marks but also keeping it smooth to the touch. You can usually tell if wood is old or new by the "mill marks". Woodmills from the past used circular saws to rip lumber, which in turn left circular marks. If you look below you can see the saw marks have an arch in them. Modern mills use large bandsaws which leave a vertical mark.
